I have only just started watching Boardwalk Empire on DVD.
The series has an excellent pedigree. The executive producers include Martin Scorsese and Mark Wahlberg. It stars Steve Buscemi and Kelly McDonald. With that talent, it is bound to be well acted, sharply written and a compelling drama.
It is set in the early days of Prohibition. Buscemi character, Enoch Thompson, is a politician and a businessman. Thompson sees prohibition as a great business opportunity. Which is why he publicly argues for the prohibition of alcohol while privately profiteering from it.
Like Hell on Wheels, Boardwak Empire challenges our views of what we think happened in the past.
